The Next Internet Super Stars
December 27th, 2007 by Andrew Chen
The first time I visit Google.com was 1998 when I was in school. Google was presenting itself as nonprofit (ad free) internet organization that focus on advance internet searching technology. Word of mouth that Goolge was the fastest search engine quickly spread over the academic world. Virtually every university
Who will be the next Google? It is very hard to find such company but I know of a few companies that are growing exponentially and they might be the next internet super star. Snap.com is one of the companies I believe to have the potential.
Snap.com can provide you a snap shot of each link on your web page. When you hover you mouse over a link the snap shot of the web page is displayed. It is very cool and its technology has been adopted by more than a million web sites.
I have installed snap.com service on my web site. When you hover your mouse on any link the image of the page is displayed. The snap shot will be displayed doesn’t matter which web site you link to. Originally snap.com doesn’t put any advertisement under the snap shot. All of a sudden one day I saw there are ads under it. So I am thinking to disable snap.com on my site. I am not sure if it is good or not. I humbly ask your opinion. It will be appreciated if you can let me know which way is better, with or without the snap shot.
Another company that has the potential is Automattic Inc.
It is the maker of the most popular blogging software “WordPress”. It also operates wordpress.com. A site where people can register and start their own WordPress blog immediately.
FeedBurnner was another company I thought that had the potential. But it was already acquired by Google for 100 millions dollars.
