Continue with previous post. More Photos of The Zhu Hai Trip - Macau and Heng Qin
Zhu Hai is a fairly big city in terms of area. It has a lot of undeveloped area like the Heng Qin island and the west district. The west district
In this trip to Zhu Hai one of my father’s long term friend Mr. Zhou took us on a 4 hour road trip to visit the west district. Mr. Zhou was once working in the city government where the west district was under his administration. He knows very well about the history of the area.
The following picture was taken when we were having tea with Mr. Zhou while we stopped by Mr. Zhou’s friend during the road trip. I hadn’t met Mr. Zhou for more than 13 years before that. He was still very humor, energetic and talkative. He is a smart and opinionated person. He said that the U.S. economy was going to go worse, lowering the interest rate was not going to solve the housing problem and it would take a long time for the U.S. to digest the housing problem. Well we will see whether he was right on that.

A lot of changes have happen on the west district and so have on Mr. Zhou. During the past 13 years Mr. Zhou retired from the government and became a successful businessman. He is now the Vice Chairman of Hebei Yongyang Iron & Steel Co.. He tried to convince me that opportunities were not in the U.S. but in China. Actually the changes on himself already convinced me that was true.
This was the place where we had tea. It is a property of Mr. Zhou’s Friend’s who is also a businessman.

The property occupied 15 acres of land. Circuit board plan and hotel were planed to be built. The following was the planned development. It was much prettier than what we saw though.
We were brought to visit the Circuit board plan. The hotel was not built yet.

The printed circuit broad plan we visited was tiny compare to Flextronics. Flextronics has a industrial campus built in the west district and it hires some 100,000 workers.

The investment of Flextronics really helps the local economy. It increased the land value of the surrounding villages. Many local residents build houses to rent to Flextronic workers. The village people became pocket pull.

This is the Gao Lan Deep water port economic zone

Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the deep water port because we went the wrong side where oil and gas were stored and we were not allowed to enter into it. So next year I will bring you to see Zhu Hai’s deep water port and the international airport and also Macau. Stay tune !!! ![]()
